How Can I Get a Legit Online Job?
Finding work at home employment can be a challenge because there are many scams that disguise themselves as legit job opportunities.
The best online job for you is one that aligns with your existing skills, qualification or talent of which you can provide the services or products other people need.
Don’t think you have any talent or skills? Why not take an online course or class that will teach you new skills? The best thing about some of these courses is that they won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
What Are the Best Online Jobs
I’ve been working full-time online from home since the year 2000, no that’s not a typo!
As a serial online entrepreneur, I have tried a variety of online jobs, gigs and micro-tasks.
I am based in South East Asia but sometimes I travel and live in Europe for months at a time.
I couldn’t be happier with the flexibility I can afford with my online job. In fact, I have never worked a 9-to-5 job before since I graduated from university.
If I can do it, anyone can too!
Below, I’ve compiled a list of legit online jobs that are not only real but can also provide good additional income, or even replace your existing 9-to-5 job!
Whether you are looking for online jobs for college students, stay-at-home moms jobs (and dads) or professionals, all of these jobs require no fees to apply.
The rise of the gig economy jobs open up opportunities for anyone who prefers more flexibility in terms of working hours or temporarily contract agreement.
Examples of gig jobs include virtual assistant services using sites like Fiverr to driving services like Uber. This list includes both regular online jobs and gigs.
A job can be full or part-time work with an hourly pay rate or salary that might include certain benefits, while a gig job doesn’t come with any benefits.
1. Micro Tasks
A macro task is a small job that you can perform online, also known as crowdsourcing, in return for an equally small fee.
Since most gigs can be completed rather quickly, the idea is to do as many of them as possible.
These tasks can be anything from answering surveys, writing articles, data entry online jobs, transcribing audio/video, working with a spreadsheet, data verification and cleanup to doing basic research.
While crowdsourcing is not an actual online job, they are easy to do and can be a good addition to anyone’s side hustle.
Amazon Mechanical Turk or MTurk is a website by Amazon where businesses, researchers, and consumer product groups can post human intelligence tasks (HITs) for remote workers.
HITs are tasks that computers are currently unable to do such as choosing the best among several photos, writing products descriptions or identifying performers on audio files.
Some higher-paying tasks may require you to complete a number of tasks before you apply for them. You can read and ask other people’s experience working with MTurk at this subreddit.
Clickworker is another crowdsourcing company that hires independent contractors for various jobs including writing, data entry, translation and other micro jobs
Another company to consider is ClixSense. They offer quick cash rewards for completing small tasks online such as categorizing images or making google searches.
2. Survey Taker
While I don’t consider this as a real online job, it offers an easy way to make money online or earn a side income in your spare time.
Also, taking online surveys don’t require any experience or skills, so anyone can do this.
A survey can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to complete. The longer the survey the more you can earn. Some pay as high as $100 per surveys.
With Survey Junkie, for example, you earn points by answering surveys where 100 points are worth $1. To earn extra points, you can refer your friends to participate too.
Depending on how long it takes, you can earn between $0.50 to $50 per survey. Most surveys take between 1 to 2 minutes to complete.
They will tell you how many points you’ll earn and how long a particular survey will take so you can decide whether to take it or not.
You’ll earn $2 worth of points just for signing up and completing your profile.
Swagbucks is another popular online survey that works on a point system called Swagbucks (SBs).
Besides answering surveys questions, you can also earn points for watching videos ($10 bonus), searching the web ($10 bonus), installing a browser and more.
3. Freelance Writer
As a freelance writer, you write blog posts, sales copy, email newsletters and others. You can work as a full-time employer and working online if you choose.
If you write blog posts, the ability to optimize the articles for the search engines is often necessary.
The pay varies widely depending on the word count, whether it involves interviewing an expert or requires more in-depth research.
Depending on your experience, you can expect to earn $10, in some cases, up to $1000 or more per article. Writing can be lucrative but it won’t be making a full-time income right away.
If you want to make good money working from home as a freelance writer but are unsure where to start or wonder if it’s possible to make a living as a writer, check out this course.
The trick to making money on Fiverr is to offer smaller gigs and sell them frequently. To increase your income, offer different packages and add-ons to satisfy buyers’ specific needs.
Textbroker pays you based on your star rating and it ranges between 0.07 cents to 0.5 cents per word.
Once you learn how to market yourself to your target audience, then you should be able to negotiate directly with marketing managers and bloggers and charge more for your work.
4. Proofreader & Editor Online Jobs
If you have excellent grammar and spelling skills, can spot errors that others miss in text documents quickly, then freelance online proofreading and editing job may be for you.
What is the difference between proofreading and editing?
Editing involves removing errors and focuses more on making sure the document makes sense in its entirety.
Proofreading is less extensive than an edit. It’s also about finding errors both minor and major that were either introduced or missed during editing.
The goal is to ensure the final draft is completely free of errors and follows the style guide.
How to start a freelance proofreading and editing business or add one into your existing freelance offerings?

7. Affiliate Marketer
Affiliate marketers often use blogs or websites to promote products and services. However, in some cases, you don’t even need a blog to become an affiliate marketer.
Affiliate marketing is a method of earning a commission by promoting other people’s products or services. For example, in this article, I often recommend courses from Udemy which I am affiliated with.
Some affiliate marketers earn a lot – like hundreds of thousands monthly – while most earn very little to nothing at all.
Affiliate marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme like some of the so-called gurus who make such claim when they’re selling their “affiliate secrets” products.
It’s also not as simple as simply plastering affiliate links in blog posts, sit back and wait for the money to roll in.
This affiliate marketing section is just too short to teach anything substantial about affiliate marketing.
If you want to learn more, I’d recommend you to check out the Affiliate Marketing+ SEO+ Copywriting: For Amazon, ClickBank course.

- Advance SEO to help you rank on the search engines
- Copywriting to help convert readers into buyers
